Postcards From Akaroa.

When I was in Christchurch last month, I took a little road trip down the east coast to Akaroa – a heavenly French settlement about 45 minutes from the city.

There are some places where you just can’t find the right words to describe it…this tiny hamlet is one of those places.

You need to see it to understand all of its charm.

Here are my postcards from this petite France au bord de la mer…

The worlds most perfect church.

Yes, there is a boulangerie, complete with checked table cloths and everything you shouldn’t eat but must.

Beautiful Banks War Memorial in the centre of the town

The best dock of the bay in the history of dock of the bays.

The last time I saw a gate and a house like this was in a Milly Molly Mandy novel.

Antique stores so covetable you’ll consider a container back to Australia.

I’m not even kidding this was just in the middle of the footpath.

The sign says it all. You can’t not stop and eat here.

I mean…

A British classic made only more delicious by the local New Zealand fish.

Turn of the century cemetery with a a thousand stories.

Akaroa is a French settlement and when in France…

You cannot make this stuff up.

English roses in full bloom.
