The Leather Jacket Guide.

The Leather Jacket Guide.

Do you own a leather jacket? That’s what your wardrobe is complaining about. I can hear it from here.

A leather jacket is a game changer -they  can pull outfits together instantly like a white shirt or a blazer. They can also make you feel like Kate Moss.

Here’s a CLICK TO BUY GUIDE  to finding the right style for your body and budget (yes, there are some pleather options for my vegetarian sisters)

Christmas present to yourself perhaps?

Soft, unstructured, waterfall neckline. This is the classic, works-over-everything style  that your wardrobe needs.

Hot Buys.

CLICK TO BUY: 1. Infamous Ashley Faux Leather Jacket from Tilly’s, $70.10; 2. Helmut Lang Blistered Leather Jacket from Green With Envy, $1,369.95; 3. Rick Owens Naska Leather Jacket from Net-A-Porter, £1,740.

Throw this on and you’ll look fresh and expensive. There’s something about pale leather that makes everything look more polished. Classic cut and soft lines look better in cream leather than bomber or biker styles and make sure it has skinny shoulders and snug arms.

Hot Buys.

CLICK TO BUY: 1. Miss Selfridge Cream Collarless Biker Jacket, £52; 2. Matthew Williamson Washed-Leather Cropped Biker Jacket from The Outnet, £420; 3. J Brand Abiah Python Print Jacket from My-Wardrobe, $1,377.50.

Women in leather biker jackets is sexy. Maybe it’s the ‘I just borrowed this from James Dean’ vibe but if your wardrobe is more casual than formal then this is the style you need. They look better over time  – think battered and loved.

Hot Buys.

CLICK TO BUY: 1. Topshop Clean Biker Jacket, £55; 2. Ksubi Biker Jacket, $999.95; 3. Rick Owens Biker Jacket from Parlour X, $2,135.

Very of the moment and always rock n’roll embellished leather is a statement so it’s important to keep what goes on underneath clean and basic. Jeans and t-shirt, black dress – simple.

Hot Buys.

CLICK TO BUY: 1. Topshop Studded Biker Jacket, £65; 2. Karl Tuga Metallic Leather-Paillette Jacket from Net-A-Porter, £512.50; 3. Diane Von Furstenberg Kate Leather Jackets from Matches Fashion, $1,630.

Not for everyone but coloured leather is HOT. best options (that you’ll get the most life span from) are bold, block colours like blue and yellow. If you invest in a jacket like this treat it like a trench coat and throw it on over everything – otherwise you will NEVER wear it.

Hot Buys.

CLICK TO BUY: 1. Miss Selfridge Cobalt Blue Authentic Leather Biker 100% Leather, £150; 2. Current/Elliot The Zip Leather Jacket, $728; 3. McQ Alexander McQueen Leather Biker Jacket from Net-A-Porter, £1,305.15.

This style is so versatile – it can be thrown over anything – jeans, dress, evening gown. Make sure the jacket sist just above or on the line of your belly button – any longer and it will unbalance the long/short sihlouttte. Think snug and high.

Hot Buys.

CLICK TO BUY: 1. Viparo Black Cropped Biker Leather Jacket – Johanna, $289.95; 2. White Suede Cropped Detail Jacket, $399; 3. ACNE Mape Cropped Leather Biker Jacket from Net-A-Porter, £895.99.

A leather blazer has a great masculine edge – it’s tough and tailored. You want single button, narrow shoulders and skinny arms. Also make sure you choose an ultra soft leather – this style looks best moulded to your body.

Hot Buys.

CLICK TO BUY: 1. Mango Leather Smoking Blazer from House of Fraser, £ 139.99; 2. Theory Frima Leather Blazer from The Outnet, £271.88; 3. Ann Demeulemeester Leather Finish Blazer from Far Fetch, $2538.42.

Style Flick.

Love leather jackets. Any style tips though for a busty lady? I love the way you pull an outfit together with a jacket or a blazer but finding the right jacket is the bane of my shopping existence. I find it quite hard to find one that fits well. Thank you!!
